
The objectives of the Innovation Investment Plan “Ensuring Agricultural Production and Ecosystem Services under the lens of Climate Change” are multidimensional and concern the significant development of the agricultural sector in the Plan’s application areas.
In particular, the individual main objectives of the Innovation Investment Plan are:
1st Objective:
Ensuring agricultural production at a high level, through the selection of optimal types of crops, which will be resistant to future climatic and water conditions and profitable for producers.
2nd Objective:
Improving the services offered in agro-tourism areas, through the protection of ecosystems and the biodiversity that lives in them against the risks of climate change and the continuous degradation of the quantity and quality of water resources.
3rd Objective:
Increase the incomes of the residents of the agro-tourism and agricultural areas, by ensuring high agricultural productivity and a high level of ecosystem services offered.
4th Objective:
Reducing the job insecurity of the population of agro-tourism areas due to the risks faced by their agricultural activities
5th Objective:
Ensuring the requirement of optimal satisfaction of the tripartite: ensuring the quantity and quality of irrigation water – maintaining agricultural productivity at a high level – protecting ecosystems.
6th Objective:
Commercial exploitation of the generated computing tool, through its promotion to consulting companies in the agricultural and agri-food sector, farmers’ groups, General and Local Water Improvement Organizations and Public Decision-Making Bodies related to the agricultural sector. Also, the computing tool will be promoted in the Mediterranean and international market.
3rd Objective
4th Objective: Reducing the job insecurity of the population of agro-tourism areas due to the risks faced by their agricultural activities.
